After coming up short a year ago, Duke University senior Amanda Blumenherst was determined to win her first United States Golf Association (USGA) championship as she came through with solid play at the end to defeat Azahara Munoz, 2-and-1, in Sunday's 36-hole match play final and claim the 2008 U.S. Women's Amateur at the 6,516-yard, par-72 Eugene Country Club in Eugene, Ore.
